Boston Hotels – A Helpful Guide to Booking Your Hotel

Boston Hotels – If you want to stay in the heart of the city and then choose the hotels in downtown Boston. This is the center of tourist activity, making it undoubtedly the best place to stay during a visit to the city. The district center is the heart of Boston town and when you stay here you will have shops, restaurants, pubs and clubs in the door. Many of the streets in downtown Boston are pedestrian by making it easy to move.
Sights to see here include: the Massachusetts State House, Boston Common (one of the oldest parks in the U.S.), Park Street Church, King’s Chapel, Fanueil Hall Marketplace and Fanueil Hall. Freedom Trail famous city also passes through this district. The Freedom Trail is 2.5 mile trail that takes in some of the main historical attractions of the city.
As well as having the best of shopping and attractions, Downtown Boston is also where most of the subway lines meet, which makes getting to and from other parts of the city very easy.
Staying in Downtown Boston does come at a price though! A lot of the Boston hotels located here are quite expensive especially at weekend and during the peak season. If you are flexible with your dates and book well in advance you just might stumble across a good deal when you search for Downtown Boston hotels.
Generally speaking, the further you go from Downtown Boston, the less expensive the hotels get. Other neighbourhoods to consider outside of Downtown Boston include; Back Bay – an exclusive residential neighbourhood with popular tourist sites like the Prudential Centre and Copley Square. The area also boasts fine dining and fine shopping.
Another popular location for Boston hotels is Beacon Hill – another residential area with lots of red brick town houses and public parks (this is where you’ll find the Cheers! bar which inspired the TV show!).
If you’re heading to Boston on business, then you might be staying in the Financial District. This is located close to the waterfront and is home to the New England Aquarium and the Downtown Crossing Shopping Plaza. Fanueil Hall and Quincy Market are within walking distance. The Financial District is well served with the Downtown Crossing, South Station and Aquarium Subway stations, making getting to and around the city centre easily accessible.
Want to stay in the Greater Boston area? Cambridge is a good choice. It’s a smaller city located just across the Charles River, northwest of Boston city. Although it is another city (5th largest in the state of MA) it is still part of the great Boston area, in fact it is just 10km from downtown Boston! If you choose a Boston hotel in Cambridge you can easily get around using the ‘T’, the local subway system. The major attractions in this part of the city include, the world famous Harvard University, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and lots of museums.
To narrow your search even more, choose Boston hotels from 1 star – 5 star. In general, if you’re looking for cheap hotels in Boston choose a lower star rating such as a 1 or 2 star. The higher the star rating the higher the price you pay. Boston hotels come in all shapes and sizes and some are equipped with facilities for families, business travellers, golfers, spas, pets and self-catering.
